"This school is Great."
"Awesome Teaching staff."
"I wish I would have brought my son here sooner."
"New school building is unbelievable."
My children have been attending Christ Lutheran School (CLS) for six years as non-congregational members of Christ Lutheran Church. After meeting with Xavria Schwarz (the principal) and Kriss Glaeser (1st grade teacher), we made the decision to change schools two days before school started.
Needless to say, I was very apprehensive about the change for both my children and me. I felt that our family had found a "home" with our old school. But the teachers and staff at CLS proved me wrong!
The teachers and staff at CLS not only "talk the talk" - they "walk the walk." Each and every one is a dedicated Christian and a superb educator. In addition, they truly care about my children (and me!) spiritually and emotionally. This has been a huge blessing in our lives!
Our decision to change to CLS has made a lasting impact on my family. My children are getting a wonderful secular and Christian education. The CLS staff are terrific role models for my children and wonderful mentors and friends to me. I thank God daily for Christ Lutheran School, the teachers, and the staff.
Respectfully,

My name is Sam Van Mouwerik, and my wife Cindy and I are the parents of two children at Christ Lutheran School (CLS). I am a graduate of CLS myself and my wife and I have a great appreciation of (and for) that school.
I recall, as a youngster, wondering why my parents, who were not fiscally blessed, paid extra to give me a private school education as well as paying taxes intended to send me through public school. I was chatting with a friend about that point of confusion when he (without children) said he was pleased to offset the cost of the education of others because he greatly preferred to be surrounded by the educated than to be surrounded by fools. Perhaps that is part of why I send my children to CLS, I find the better educated my children (and their friends) are - the better and more rewarding our interaction. Tuition is an investment not only in their future but to a large extent in my present.
I work (part-time) with an English teacher in a public school system who says she gets an average of eight minutes a week with each student - be they genius or very needful, that's less than a half-hour per month. I know that at CLS there are very committed teachers who spend nearer to 30 hours a week challenging, extolling, and understanding the strengths and needs of my daughters and giving each aspect of their education the due attention.
In closing, I believe strongly what Cervantes wrote in Don Quixote: It is "not with whom you were bred, but with whom thou art fed" that makes you who you are. Further, "show me who thou art with - and I will tell thee what thou art." My children are with respectful, God-loving, and devoted "givers" and my wife and I as well as our children are the better for it.

We were blessed to be able to send two of our children, Matthew and Allyson, to Christ Lutheran for the last few years of their elementary education. Christ Lutheran provided a very nurturing environment, both spiritually and academically, and helped lay the groundwork for Matthew and Allyson's futures in both these areas. The gifted staff at Christ Lutheran challenges the students to reach their potential by helping them to know their strengths (spiritually, academically, and physically) and to work on their weaknesses. This well-rounded foundation showed in the high school years in Matthew and Allyson's participation in sports, community activities, student government, and church youth group, combined with strong academic performances. Matthew is currently a sophomore at UC Davis in the Naval ROTC program, and plans to go into Naval Aviation after graduating. Allyson is currently in her senior year at Steele Canyon High School.

I attended Christ Lutheran School from preschool to eighth grade. Upon graduation in 2003, I felt well prepared for high school. Academically, I excelled where many other students didn’t. I was easily able to adjust to Honors and AP courses because of the skills I had been taught from Christ Lutheran School. This was a tremendous advantage for me as I competed against so many students trying to get into 4-year universities and applying for scholarships. However, my time at Christ Lutheran School set me up for more than just academic success. My time there was rooted in a positive environment where the teachers cared about me as a person—not just a statistic. I got to hear the Gospel daily and grow in a community of Christians. My parents didn’t have to worry about me hanging around with “the wrong crowd,” because my friends shared the same Christian values as me. These things carried farther than academics could have taken me alone. Currently, I attend the Naval Academy in Annapolis and will be traveling to Africa as a missionary during this next year.

As a parent I can't say enough about the quality of education my children have received at Christ Lutheran School. The teachers are excellent and the Christian attitude is so genuine. My son is an alumnus from the school and from Kindergarten to 8th grade each class, and each teacher, was a true blessing. My daughter is a student in the upper grades and looks forward to going to school everyday, because at Christ Lutheran School there is a real sense of belonging. The new school building is beautiful, but it is not the building that makes Christ Lutheran so special. What makes Christ Lutheran so special to my family is that it is a true community, where children are valued and cared for as individuals, and where each child is lovingly encouraged to grow, academically and spiritually.

Choosing Christ Lutheran School came with much thought. When we were looking for a school for our oldest child (of three) we investigated many options. Conrad was home schooled for kindergarten and part of 1st grade and was a very quiet shy boy. We made a list of what was important to us....
First, we were looking for a Christian-based curriculum. Second, we wanted a small school with a nurturing environment so it would be easy for Conrad to assimilate. And third, we wanted the highest caliber of teachers. After much investigation we found that Christ Lutheran School offered all of these things.
We feel so welcomed and included at Christ Lutheran. We walk down the halls and the teachers know our names as well as the names of our kids. These teachers have the highest moral and academic standards. They are so committed to our children, it is more than a job to them, it is a ministry. Ms. Schwarz, the principal, has so much energy that it infiltrates the entire school. She always has a smile for the kids and an open door for the parents. Although Christ Lutheran School has huge financial impact on our family, we feel we are investing in our children’s future. We are blessed to have found a home at Christ Lutheran School.
