Arthur Bean Award
Each year the faculty at Christ Lutheran School selects a student who models Christian service. The Arthur Bean Christian Service award is given each year to a student who exemplifies and models a life of service to Jesus and to others. We take the award very seriously and consider it to be one of the highest honors here. The award traditionally goes to an 8th grade student. We base the award not just on the present year, but on all his/her years at Christ Lutheran School.
Arthur Bean was a young child who belonged to a family that attended our school many years ago. The Bean family often took care of foster children and they especially had a heart for children with special needs. Arthur Bean was a special needs child that they adopted. Each day when they would arrive to school kids from Christ Lutheran would swarm their car wanting to hold, talk to, and be with Arthur. When Arthur was still very young he passed away. The Bean family wanted to set up a memorial in his honor here at Christ Lutheran School to award one student each year for Christian service and thus the tradition of the Arthur Bean Christian Service award began in 1984.
