Christ Lutheran School moves into new building
LA MESA: The new Christ Lutheran School in La Mesa opened this week after 16 months of construction.
The $5.5 million, nine-classroom school building, with its expanded library/media center and science laboratory, was built just north of the old school on La Mesa Boulevard.
The old building, parts of which were built at the school's founding in 1958, will be used primarily for church functions.
About 200 students in kindergarten through eighth grade attend the school. It also has a preschool.
Most of the money for the school came from Christ Lutheran Church members and the families of students and alumni of the school. –C.M. Staff writers Rick Rogers, Tony Manolatos, Tanya Sierra, Michele Clock, Ronald W. Powell, Mike Lee and Chris Moran contributed to this report.
